The news of a tragic accident involving a police officer's death has elicited condolences after the incident occurred on Monday night.

The crash happened on the southbound side of the Taconic State Parkway near Mile Marker 37 in Dutchess County.

According to the East Fishkill police, the officer's vehicle veered off the road, colliding with a tree. Subsequently, the officer was rushed to the hospital but passed away later.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office expressed their heartfelt sympathies.

"The Orange County Sheriff's Office extends our deepest condolences to all of the members of the town of East Fishkill police department, their families, friends, and the community as they mourn the tragic passing of one of their own officers."
